I had the privilege of working with the team at Peacehaven Farm last month on their ground breaking event here in the Triad region of North Carolina.  I was there to capture the event and tell the important story they have to share.  Please read and share the URL blog post and spread the word of what Peacehaven means and does for its community!

On Sunday 10/19/2025, Peacehaven’s farm was alive with more than just the sounds of music and laughter — it was alive with knowing.

We didn’t just break ground on a building. We planted the promise of belonging. As Phelps said, families don’t just hope their loved ones will be safe here — they know they are. Core Members don’t just hope to belong — they know they have dignity, purpose, and a place to call home. And supporters don’t just hope their generosity matters — they know it grows into abundance and community.

This moment wasn’t ours alone. It belongs to the staff who lead with compassion, the interns who bring fresh energy, the board who clears the way, the campaign team, the construction volunteers, and the site planners who rolled up their sleeves. It belongs to the families who dreamed Peacehaven into being, the angel investors who believed early, and the partners who stood with us.

Together, with more than $15.1 million raised toward our $18.5 million goal, we are building a Community Center — not just walls and beams, but a place where strangers become neighbors, and neighbors become family.

The Harvest Celebration was proof: when you look around and see hundreds of faces cheering, clapping, and raising their hands in joy, you realize — belonging isn’t a dream. It’s already here. And it’s only just beginning.

Peacehaven serves individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), I/DD families and caregivers, residents of surrounding communities and neighborhoods, volunteers, and donors.  This event was to celebrate the ground breaking of their facility and with over 500 people in attendance along with local and state officials, we celebrated together and concluded the event with some remarks and a shovel ceremony.
